All services are free of charge. Services Include:
General Services:
General services include outreach, interviewing, testing, counseling and
referral to placement, training and other services designed to ready
individuals for employment. Specialized services for various groups, such as
the following, are provided:
Veterans' Services:
By law and regulation veterans receive priority (with preferential treatment
for veterans with disabilities) in all services leading to employment and
training.
Youth Services:
Services are geared to provide employment assistance to youths between the ages
of 16 and 22 who are in school, are high school dropouts or are graduates
entering the labor market.
Older Workers:
Middle-aged and older workers are provided all services within the scope and
responsibility of Job Service, including specialized job placement,
occupational testing, local labor market information, counseling and referral
to training and employment programs.
Services to People With Disabilities:
Special placement techniques are also offered which seek to match the physical
and mental demands of a job to the capabilities of workers with disabilities.
Such services are given by Job Service in cooperation with other community
agencies and include counseling and special placement assistance.
Farm and Woods Workers:
Rural residents receive year-round assistance in the full range of employment
services. They also receive special services in recruitment and placement of
farm and woods workers. Growers receive assistance in meeting seasonal labor
needs and moving workers from supply to demand areas.
Help for Employers:
Employers are provided assistance in obtaining workers for their workforce
needs, in filling jobs with special skills or other requirements. Auxiliary
services include comprehensive labor market information on a local, state,
regional and national basis.
Temporary Income/Unemployment Compensation:
Unemployment compensation provides temporary income as
partial compensation to unemployed worker.
Unemployment Compensation guidelines are developed by federal government
and the U.S. Department of Labor.
Unemployment funds are paid by funds collected under provision of
Federal Unemployment Tax Act.

Must be age 60 and above, meet certain income eligibility
guidelines and be able to serve between 15 and 40 hours a week. Foster
Grandparents receive pre-service and monthly training sessions, reimbursement
for transportation, some meals during service, annual physical, accident and
liability insurance while on duty, and a modest, tax-free stipend to offset the
cost of volunteering if income eligible.
