Temporary shelter for battered women and their children. Confidential and no charge for any service provided. Assistance in obtaining domestic violence petitions is alsoavailable. Provides counseling for abuse victims; parent education; legal assistance; support groups; parenting classes; visitation/exchange program which includes supervised visitation at a center located near the Raleigh County office; and a safe haven for exchange of children in potentially dangerous situations for parental visitation. Supervised visitation and exchanges are usually ordered by a Family Court Judge. Case management services that assist shelter residents with locating housing; items needed to furnish a home and employment assistance also available.
