1400 Virginia Street Medicaid eligible to children under age 21. Physical exams, dental, hearing, and vision services. Lab test, immunizations, treatment for health problems discovered during exams. Check of child’s growth and development. Follow up check up’s available also. Health education and guidance. Transportation assistance available.

Offers family planning; sexually transmitted disease/HIV/AIDS awareness, education and testing; birth control; breast and cervical cancer screenings; various immunizations; hypertension education; tuberculosis education; epidemiology; provider education and general community education. Clinics for services vary, call for appointment and clinic schedule. Open Monday-Friday, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm. No charge for services.

New River Health Association Family Practice
Located at Women’s Health and Birth Center
Services offered for ADULTS: General practice; internal medicine; chronic health services; screenings for cancer, diabetes, hypertension and heart disease; care and monitoring of respiratory and lung diseases; hearing loss evaluation and treatment; health education programs; diabetes clinics, education and support groups; nutritional counseling; mental health counseling; therapy; nursing home care; and in-patient hospital care.
Services offered for WOMEN: Complete Well-Women care services; gynecological exams; family planning and pregnancy tests; prenatal and obstetrical care; childbirth classes; well-pregnancy education; birth education; mental health counseling; and referrals to other maternal organizations.
Services offered for CHILDREN AND TEENS: Infant, child and adolescent health care; immunizations, well-child and school examinations; mental health assessment and counseling; nutritional counseling; primary and preventative care offered in schools through school-based wellness centers. Support Services also offered: Pharmacy services, including prescription by mail program; laboratory and X-Ray services; mental health services; benefit eligibility assistance and referrals for other organizations.
New River Family Health Association facilities and pharmacy accepts several forms of insurance, as well as operates on a sliding and reduced fee scale. Appointments are preferred, but walk-in will be taken. Additional health coverage program, The Promise Program, is also available. Contact Faye Smith at administrative offices.

General and family medical practice. Accepts most forms of insurance, and offers reduced sliding fee scale. Offers prescription services; cancer prevention and treatment for patients over age 40; family planning; maternal health; and pediatrics. Children’s Health Insurance Plan (CHIPS)

Assists children gee the necessary and preventive health care. Child must be under age 18 and meet income guidelines. Application may be mailed to home or referral may be made to local DHHR office. Services covered through CHIPS include medical office visits, hospitalization, urgent or after hours clinic visits, prescription drugs, immunizations, dental service, oral surgery, accident-related dental services, vision services, vision therapy, well-child care, mental health, and chemical dependency services.

Medicaid is the federal-state program that provides free medical care to children and adults. It provides both basic health and long term care services. Must meet income and eligibility guidelines. Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnosis and Treatment for a child’s physical or mental condition if such services are medically necessary are provided until age 21. |
